Mr Zinc Miniature Madness - Howling Griffons Chaplain

Hello again!

This time I bring you the finished Chaplain in colors of Howling Griffons Chapter.
Few things I want to say first before spaming you with pictures, I don't think I will ever buy finecast for the retail price. Nope. All in all - it's not worth it, I'd say it's arguable if the details are better than plastic/metal. IMO plastic is the best of the three but that's just me.
The other thing is I'm not 100% happy with this fella - and by that I mean freehand - or lack of thereof. I REALLY wanted to paint Howiling Griffons logo but lately I just wasnt painting as much  and becasue of that I decided to not paint the logo at all instead of screwing up the shoulder pad completly. It does make me feel bad and sad. I realized that you have to keep painting in order to feel confident and not only advance but to not "loose" your skills.

Anyways I will let YOU decided if it is any good ;)

Till the next one! (spoiler alert: SPACE WOLVES!)

Saturday Ramblings 001: Wips/info/motivation

Starting from the last - a piece of motivation:

So with that out of the way let's talk business. Ok not really, just a general "what's going on". As you might imagine my absence in recent weeks must have some reasons - that would be work. I'm quite happy with it BUT it takes a lot of time (and not just regular time - a lot of overtime recently) and it leaves me exhausted when I'm finaly back home. Also Univeristy work, but that I will be dealing with rather quickly :D

So generaly speaking - same old stuff.

In terms of upcoming events - We still have our challenge, so will definitly work on that - and by that I mean my private "entry" as well as some coverage.
There is some other stuff I would like to enter so I will be sure to spread the word about them so you guys can join as well. Also I should be starting some entries for major contests i'd love to atend (not sure wich one yet as there always are issues  - mostly money)

So with that we come to WIPs

I'm quite close to finish with my Howling Griffons Chaplain - i must say, i haven't been painting as regular recently and i can REALLY feel that :/ Got this guy very cheap and one of the reasons i bought him was to check what's the big idea with finecast anyway. Not that impressed IMO. I don't think i'd pay the retail price if I am to be honest.
One more thing about it before pictures - the base is one of the resin bases awarded as random prizes in recent Bananalicious Painting Contests over at Massive Voodoo. Here is the deal - I LOVE MAKING BASES, ok i said it, sometimes i enjoy it even more than working on the miniature itself. So when i got info that I won some resin bases I was like "meh" BUT I must admit - i was wrong. VERY VERY wrong. These bases are from Taban Miniatures and while they do look great on their own - I do plan to use at least some of them as part of bigger works.

Now with all that said some WIP pictures of said Chalpain

Hopefully I will be able to work on this little piece tonight.
Till the next one!

Mr Zinc Miniature Madness - Hellbrute

Hello!
Mr Zinc Miniature Madness is more or less a title I will be giving for all of my posts with my finished miniatures, while they aren't as good as those done by Decay i'm still quite proud of them, also our styles are very diffrent so you won't be bored by too much of the same.

Anyway on to the main dish - the Hellbrute
Quite a miniture if you ask me, comes from new Dark Vengance Starter Set for Warhammer 40K. Very detailed and gives a LOT of posibilities, just a secret for all readers - you might see some more of those guys in the future - not only from me (wink wink ;) ).
I went for Emperor's Children colour scheme, with lot's of flesh parts - and a lot of gore and  blood.
So there we go with the pictures!

That would be all for now!

The Tearer of (not only) Flesh - WIP 1

Hello!

First of all - for those of you that are worried this blog will feature only miniatures and not gunpla/other  stuff - fear not. It just happens that this is my current project and I want to share it here (kinda like a  "warm up" i guess).

What you will see here is a little diorama, or a vignette if you preffer shwing a certian idea i had in mind, also i want to push my painting skills forward and this is a good pratice on highlighting as there is many edges here.
As you may or may not now, most of GW miniatures don't give that much of a poseability, sure some of them have realy nice dynamic poses but if you want to make something diffrent more often than not you will have to mod some of them.
Now here is the thing:
I am absolutely dreadful at sculpting.
Yeah... not an ideal situation is it? Anyway i'm still gonna try.

Now on to the build itself, first i started with legs. For my needs i had to get kneeling legs, and as i don't have any in my bits here is what i did: cutted the legs in to 3 parts, drill holes, insert wire. Not that difficult, is it? I found that somewhere on the intrewebz quite a while ago so decided to give  it a try, and here it is:

all cut in to pieces

and time for some splits

and done
Now you can propably see something white in the background on last picture. That would be the base, now I want to make a tiled floor that will look like some kind of gothic monastery. I'm not going to lie - that's pretty easy to make, just scribe some lines in a piece of pla-plate. The fun part will be the painting. But more about that in future posts, I had some crazy ideas on how to do that BUT decided aginst it and going more "traditional" way, altough I propably will try that idea on a scrap piece just to see if it even works.

They might appear as not perfectly scribed - that's because I already started making chiping and weathering. I want to make the Space Marine removeable -just in case I would sell it to some gamer (wich would be pretty awesome). Also here is my idea for both mounting in to the plint and to make sure i won't mess up the height.

Looks a bit silly now but it will pay of later. And again if you look really hard you might notice more than just the base in the last picture. In fact that is a Chaos Space Marine wich will be the one gettin teared in to pieces.

All nice and ready for some greenstuff. A little bit of reposing in arms area as well, just wait and see me butchering it all with my lack of greenstuff skils.
And finaly we go back to our Flesh Tearers hero that is yet to recive upper half of his body and  a name. While You may help me with the later, here is how i dealt with the former:

Not that bad of a pose is it? Still this fella is in dire need of some greenstuff - I will do my best to deliver...
Now I guess it is just fair to end this post with a shot of how i planed the whole scene, so there we go:

That will be everything for now, more updates should follow soon.
Cheers
